At the Swedish Migration Agency, we work with one of the major societal issues of our time – migration. We are approximately 6,000 people here, and we have an unusually important job!
We are looking for several migration officers for the Swedish Migration Agency's examination operations and our regional control unit in Malmö.
With us, you will work on current societal issues influenced by what is happening in our environment.
We need to strengthen our operations with more employees in the areas where the need is currently greatest. Our operations are large, and over time, there may be a need for your skills in other case types as well. Therefore, the opportunities for development are many. Regardless of where in the organization you will work, you will play a significant role in contributing to the implementation of our important societal mission.
What does a migration officer do?
As a migration officer, you will handle, investigate, decide, and propose decisions in various types of cases. The decisions have legal effects for individuals and affect their rights to benefits, rights, and obligations. Additionally, you will work with administration where you manage files and documents that have been received or created in a case.
In your role, you will meet and have conversations with individuals who have a case with the Migration Agency and other stakeholders. The conversations may involve informing about the Migration Agency's processes as well as guiding and providing service.
As a migration officer in the control unit, you will handle incoming tips and identify phenomena that contribute to the Migration Agency's mission to prevent and combat abuse of the agency's processes. You will conduct follow-up checks on granted permits. In the role of migration officer in the control unit, you may work in collaboration with other authorities against organized crime and labor market crime. Job tasks may also include working to combat human trafficking, conducting follow-up checks in cases, and notifying and preventing the misuse of welfare systems.

In our work as civil servants, high demands are also placed on judgment and a high level of security and confidentiality awareness.
You who apply have
- A university degree of at least 180 credits, preferably with a legal or social science orientation or other academic education combined with relevant experience for the role.
- Knowledge of administrative law matters.
- Good communication skills and express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
- Good knowledge of the Office suite.
It is meritorious if you have
- Current experience of working with administrative law matters.
- Experience in case handling.
- Experience in control operations at another authority.
